Marble Madness
Marble Madness is an activity which develops design and strategy skills. Using appropriate design and production decisions, the students need to include specific design features such as that it must include both 2D and 3D features, it must include a tunnel, and have a creative landing spot. The opportunities for developing the creativity is endless as they work collaboratively in groups to complete the marble track task. There is no lesson plan included as this is intended to inspire you to provide students with as little or as many limitations as you desire. Linking this task to science, the teacher would discuss gravity and show examples of both hand made and commercial marble tracks.
Design a Camp T-shirt
This rubric is an excellent starting point for teachers to create an assessment in which students design and create their own design for a camp t-shirt. Using either digital processes or any of the arts processes, the students will engage in learning about social traditions and groups, including self-image within these groups. This activity provides scope for both group or individual work, and the possible incorporation of changing the image to a more universal design to suit a group of people.
